2018 Beauty Favorites

Best_Beauty_2018_7

Hello everyone~ Long time, no talk. I am officially on winter break, which means I can finally read and write for fun. You know — stuff that would otherwise be considered work during the semester.

I thought it would be fitting to start wrapping up my 2018 and do my coveted year-end beauty favorites post. I am going to keep it real with everyone and say I have not been wearing a lot of makeup recently, but I do have some favorites I would like to share. Also, sorry, but a lot of this stuff was in the Products I have Been Loving Recently post from a month ago.

Products I have been loving recently

New Bits_5

Hello everyone. It has been a hot minute since I posted something here — three months to be exact. I have been very busy with school, work, my internship (which ended Sunday) and just life. Now that I have a tad bit more time, I thought it would fitting to make my return.

I thought I would sit down and write a little post about products I have been using for the past few months. If you have a second, please let me know if you have tried any of these products below.

I'm going to keep it real with you guys and say that I  have been using a lot of the same products for the past few months. However, I do some new bits added to my collection that I think you guys will enjoy.

How to START a bullet journal (literally the only guide you need)

Howto_start_bujo

As a young adult, you can go either go two ways with your life – being organized or being unorganized.

Don't get me wrong being unorganized is not necessarily a bad thing. Some people find peace in their unorganization and it actually makes them more productive.

However, I strive to be organized. Not because I think it is better for me, but rather because of all the fun stationary I can get (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧.

I kid (not really) but I have been really open about sharing my organization journey on here. I have written a lot of posts, made two videos and spent hours a week on my bullet journal.

I thought it was time to come full circle and make ONE BIG POST about bullet journaling. I am not only sharing how to start one but also how to use it, save money on stationary, Pinterest boards, popular products, resources and much more.

I know the world of bullet journaling seems overwhelming but it is really isn't once you start. Before you read my post, please watch this video.

The video was created by a person named Ryder who is the original creator of the Bullet Journal. Some might say he is the original Bullet Journalist. It just outlines basic things about the bullet journal and how it is traditionally used. But keep in mind, there is NO RIGHT WAY to make/use a bullet journal.

Before we get started I would like to mention any link with an asterisk (*) is an affiliate link.

Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen Review

IMG_9707

I don't know about you but I think sunscreen isn't fun. How should I put it? I don't wake up in the morning excited to apply sunscreen (but then again, I don't think anyone does).

I think it has a lot to do with how traditional sunscreens tend to be hard to apply, sticky, leave a white cast and affect my finished makeup. I hate them but I need them.

One sunscreen tackled these stereotypes with the release of the Glossier Inivisble Shield Daily Sunscreen*.

Invisible Shield is unique because of its serum/gel formula. Here are some basic facts before we get started:
  • It retails for $25 (was originally $35 on release,)
  • Can be purchased on Glossier.com.
  • Broad Spectrum SPF 35.
  • 1fl. oz. or 30ml.

Current Makeup Removal Routine

Current Makeup Removal Routine

I know this looks like a sponsored post, but it is not. However, Garnier, if you guys are reading this, please sponsor me because I thoroughly enjoy your Micellar Water line.

I have practically tried every single type of makeup remover under the sun. Like everything. With that being said,  I have found my favorite makeup remover is micellar water. How I came about micellar water was when Bioderma was HUGE a few years ago. I had difficulty purchasing the original because it was only available in Europe (and it was $30 per bottle), so when I heard Garnier was launching its very own line, I was excited.

Also, I heard French women use Micellar water as their only water to cleanse their skin and who wouldn't want to be like a French woman?

Everyday Winter Makeup

EverydayMakeup_1_TP

New year – new me! Ok, not really.

However, the new year does give me an excuse to reinvent my makeup routine for the new year and to be me more precise, the new season. (Winter has been in full force since 2017, but I would like to pretend that it started on January 1st.)

I started a poll in my sidebar that asks the question of whether you, as a reader, would watch my YouTube videos if I made them. Well, SURPRISE, I already made one!

With that being said, I hope you still vote and tell me what you think.

Anyways, I am always doing something new with my makeup and depending on my outfit for the day, I like my makeup to be matchy-matchy with my outfit . But if I was going somewhere special or I wanted to feel better about myself, this is the makeup I would do.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

IMG_7189

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette caused quite a commotion when it was first released last year.

A lot of people did not like the formulation of the eyeshadows because of kickback and kickback means you will have a lot of wasted product.

Other problems include the shadows oxidizing and difficulty blending.

I am going to address each of the concerns individually because I think that is the best way to review this palette.

Before I jump into my opinions about this product, I am going to drop some retail information.

This palette comes with 14 eyeshadows: one holographic, two shimmers, and 11 mattes. It also comes with a dual-ended brush: one side is for blending and the other is for application.

It retails for $42.00, however, since this palette is not doing so hot, you can get a really good deal on it.

Desi x Katy x Dose of Colors Collection Review

DESI_KATY_DOSE OF COLORS_4

Listen, I am obsessed with the Desi x Katy x Dose of Colors collection.

I have talked about this collection so much since I got my hands on it in November. I mentioned it in my last post, Dark Makeup Edit, and the liquid lipsticks were going to be the focal point in my next post. Then I was like, "hmm, maybe, I should write a post about the entire collection before I start mentioning it in every other post I write."

So here we are.

The collection includes:
  • The Girls eyeshadow quad ($28.00)
  • Fuego highlighter ($28.00)
  • Mírame highligher ($28.00)
  • Hot Fire liquid lipstick ($18.00)
  • Saváge liquid lipstick ($18.00)
  • No Shade lipstick ($16.00)
  • More Creamer Please Lipstick ($16.00)
  • Over The Top lipgloss ($15.00 | not pictured ;_;)

This collection is limited edition, however, Dose of Colors is still selling the remaining products from the collection. That includes the two lipsticks, the two liquid lipsticks, and the highlighter in Mírame.

Who knows, Dose of Colors might bring the collection back for funsies.

2017 Beauty Favorites

END_OF_THE_YEAR_17_TP_3

Well, well, well. ... Another year, another year-end favorites.

I thought my 2017 Year-End Beauty Favorites post would be a fitting return to the blogosphere. In my five month hiatus, I tried a lot of new products because my spending habits were out of control.

I have posted photos of some of these products all over my Instagram and I really hope you follow it because I think I have a sick Instagram theme going. Not to toot my horn though.
